"Miranda Derrick, the subject of the documentary 'Dancing for the Devil,' asserts she's not a victim."

Derrick, a popular dancer boasting over 2 million fans on TikTok, is the subject of a three-part series that delves into a religious organization and the connection between it and a talent management company called 7M Films.

In an Instagram post, she expressed her gratitude to her supporters: "I'd like to take a moment and say a big thank you to everyone who has shown concern for my well-being during this time. In the upcoming slides, I've included my thoughts on this recently released documentary. Due to legal reasons, I can't go into too much detail, but I'd like to set the record straight a bit."

The series alleges that Derrick's family had been estranged from her due to her ties to the religious group, and claims she was no longer in control of her life. Netflix has not responded to CNN's requests for comment.

Derrick thanked her followers for their concern, adding that she couldn't discuss specific allegations due to pending litigation. She's a defendant in a defamation lawsuit. However, she emphasized that she doesn't condone abuse of any kind.

The dancer spoke about her relation with her parents and sister, Melanie Wilking, with whom she had danced as the Wilking Sisters.

"I love my mother, father, and Melanie, and they'll always be a part of my life. But we don't see eye to eye right now. I believe this documentary tells a one-sided story. When I committed my life to Jesus Christ in 2020, I asked my family for some personal space and time to rethink my faith journey," she wrote on Instagram.

Derrick also addressed several issues raised in the series, such as her affiliation with Shekinah Church and her decision not to attend her grandfather's funeral. 7M Films, where she's a member, clarified that it's "operated separately and apart" from the church.

"Before we went to visit grandpa in the hospital to say our final goodbyes, I started praying in the car. Melanie got upset, told me to stop, and never prayed around her again," she shared.

The dancer also mentioned that she created her own social media account when her sister had locked her out of the shared one.

"I'm just an average woman trying to live her life. I'm not a victim, I'm not hurt, and I'm not facing any abuse. I've never asked for anyone to intervene in my affairs. My choices in life are solely mine." Derrick's husband, fellow dancer James Derrick, also known as BDash, is one of the subjects of the series.
