Mike Tyson's return to boxing delayed
Mike Tyson, an ex-professional boxer who turned 57 this year, is eyeing a comeback in the boxing world by competing against YouTuber Jake Paul.
Unfortunately, a highly-anticipated boxing match between the two will have to wait. Reports suggest that Tyson's health is not in the best condition, which had led postponement of the duel. The suspicions were confirmed when the tournament officials revealed that he's been having some health issues lately.
This match was initially supposed to take place on 20th July at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas and would have been accessible on the streaming service Netflix.
During a flight, Tyson complained about feeling nauseous and dizzy, leading him to receive treatment from medical professionals. As per his declaration, the doctors now recommend Tyson to ease up on his training regimen for a few more weeks due to a stomach issue.
Although his health is generally better than it was in the ‘90s, he stated, "I will be returning to my normal training plan soon." A new date for his return to the ring is set to be announced by June 7th.
In the past, Tyson was a heavyweight champion from 1987 to 1990. His last professional boxing match took place in June 2005, but he rekindled his love for the sport years later and took part in a show fight against Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020. The latter bout saw eight rounds, resulting in a draw.
Meanwhile, Jake Paul has been quite successful in his boxing career, with a win ratios of 9 out of his 10 official fights, with a recent trend in which his last two victories were by knockouts. He has primarily fought MMA fighters like Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley. His only defeat was against Tommy Fury, the brother of former heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury.
