Mercedes boss Wolff has really had enough
An alleged betrayal of secrets is causing a stir in Formula 1. The Mercedes team boss sharply criticizes the fact that the world governing body is investigating Toto Wolff and his wife Susie. The racing team remains open to legal action.
Mercedes Head of Motorsport Toto Wolff has sharply criticized the International Motorsport Federation following the investigation into alleged betrayal of secrets against him and his wife. The 51-year-old Austrian told Sport Bild that he had developed a thick skin over the course of his career and was able to deal with attacks. "But when people go after my family, that's a different level. An absurd accusation was created out of nothing. It was a personal attack in which a red line was crossed," he said.
Two weeks ago, the FIA announced an investigation into media reports that confidential information had been leaked to a Formula 1 team boss by an employee of the rights holder. The background to this was a report by a portal about an alleged conflict of interest involving Wolff and his wife Susie, about which other Formula 1 officials are said to have complained to FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem.
Online hate against Susie Wolff
The nine other teams in motorsport's premier class then published largely identical statements in which they assured the world governing body that they had not lodged any complaints about a possible conflict of interest. Two days after the announcement, the world motorsport association closed the investigation.
There are "no ongoing ethical or disciplinary investigations concerning any person", it said. Mercedes is keeping its legal action against the FIA open. Susie Wolff had reported online hate against herself and her family after the allegations came to light.

Despite the FIA closing their investigation, Mercedes continues to pursue legal action against the organization due to the allegations against Toto and Susie Wolff. In the aftermath, Susie Wolff faced online hate and condemnation. Moreover, Mercedes AMG's involvement in Formula 1 remains unaffected, as they aim to compete at the highest level, defending their reputation and the integrity of their team.
