Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan remain in the spotlight even after their retirement as high-ranking royals. Their children are growing up away from the media hype.

Princess Lilibet celebrates her third birthday. - Meghan and Harry shelter her from the busy surroundings.

Harry (39) and Meghan (42) have even more reasons to celebrate: their little girl Lilibet is turning three. The adorable tot was born on June 4, 2021, just over two years after they welcomed their first child, Archie (5), on May 6, 2019. The family gathered at their home in Montecito to celebrate – with close friends, family members, and some friends of Lilibet herself.

Though Archie and Lilibet grow up away from the media glare, they're still well-protected and cherished. Their lives are kept private, leaving us with very little to know about Lilibet now that she's three.

The announcement of Meghan's pregnancy came on Valentine's Day 2021, with the couple excitedly sharing the news with the world. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey (70) a month later, they shared the happy news that they were expecting a daughter. Harry expressed his delight, saying, "First a boy and then a girl – what more could we want?"

The couple live happily in California with their children. Last year, they made the decision to step back from their roles as senior royals and move to the United States, where Meghan is from. Now, Harry enjoys being a father of two and even stated on Today, "I love it. I love every part of it. I've always wanted to be a father. And now I have two little people for whom I'm responsible."

Both Lilibet and her big brother Archie are named after royal figures. The Princess received her name from Queen Elizabeth II, affectionately known as Lilibet in the family. Her second name, Diana, is in honor of Harry's beloved late grandmother, Princess Diana (1961-1997), who died in a car accident in Paris in 1997.

The nickname Lilibet caused a stir, with some questioning if the Queen was consulted. However, it was reported that Harry obtained her permission to use the nickname for his daughter. However, there were rumors circulating in the British press that she may not have been consulted.

Lilibet and her grand- aunt, the late Princess of Wales, have met just once, when they were both in England for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Lilibet celebrated her first birthday in Windsor and shared the occasion with the now-Queen Consort Camilla (75). Harry's dad, King Charles III (75), met his granddaughter for the first time in person in June 2022.

Princess Lilibet was only given her royal title after the Queen's death in September 2022, as a result of Charles's regency. As the monarch's grandchild, this title is hers. Archie has been a prince since then. In February 2024, Lilibet became Princess Lilibet of Sussex, as their Sussex surname was adopted. The Sussex siblings are seventh and sixth in line to the British throne.

Tyler Perry (54), a Hollywood producer and close friend of the couple, revealed that he is godfather to Lilibet in Netflix's Harry & Meghan documentary. He helped them settle into life in the United States by offering them a residence in one of his properties.

We don't have any details about what Lilibet's life looks like in her California home. It's likely that Doria Ragland (67), Meghan's mother, is a big part of her life, acting as a caregiver in her parents' absence. In May 2024, during a school visit while Harry and Meghan were visiting Nigeria to promote the Invictus Games, Meghan spoke to a group of students about her daughter, telling them how she recognized her reflection in her mother's eyes, saying, "Our daughter Lilibet is much smaller than you. She'll be three years old soon. A few weeks ago, she looked at me and saw her reflection in my eyes. And she said, 'Mom, I see myself in you'."

She truly meant it. "However, I took your words in a different light," said Meghan. "And I thought to myself, 'Yes, I can see myself in you, and you can see yourself in me.'" During their visit, Meghan also mentioned her children's favorite activities. As per her, Lili loves to sing and dance, and Archie enjoys playing.

Will Lili make a public appearance? Though she appeared as a baby on a Christmas card and the Sussexes shared a few insights into their family life in their Netflix documentary, the Sussexes keep their children shielded from the public. The children are also not anticipated to participate in any of the planned Netflix projects of the couple.
