"Colossea" - Mega yacht with built-in airship: this giant makes billionaires dream
Pierpaolo Lazzarini is known for his unusual designs. For instance, he is the creator of the "Colossea", a gigantic yacht that would have been the largest cruise ship in the world (learn more about it here). One could argue that the Italian, who certainly has a multitude of designs for smaller objects to offer, has a certain megalomaniac tendency.
In this category falls also the "Colossea", which, as the name suggests, would be a colossal yacht. Although the designer apparently still lacks a customer, if he finds one, the ship would break all records.
The "Colossea" would be the longest yacht
This starts with the dimensions: The yacht would be 37.5 meters high and a supposedly impressive 204 meters long. In comparison: The longest yacht in the world currently, the "Azzam", offers "only" 180.6 meters. However, the owner of the "Colossea" would not only have the upper hand at sea.
The ship design features a two-in-one model. The yacht's bridge would consist of an airship. During sea travel, it would serve as the command center and living quarters, but could detach from the watercraft and fly autonomously.
The design for the airship is inspired by the legendary "Norge". This was an Italian airship that first flew in 1924 and is famous for having reached the North Pole. Unworthily, it was dismantled in Alaska after this achievement.
The most luxurious docking station in the world
The airship of the "Colossea" is supposed to be able to lift a payload of 10 tons and accommodate up to 24 guests. The crew should consist of ten people. Approximately the same number of people could also find space on the yacht, which is not only intended to be a docking station for the aircraft but also offers a multitude of amenities.
On board, Lazzarini plans several pools, a helicopter landing pad, and enough space for everything that might occur to the potential buyer. It won't come cheap, however. Various media estimate the cost to be around one billion US dollars.
Perhaps that is also the reason why the designer tries to address Elon Musk personally in several images. Perhaps the timing is not so bad – after all, tech CEO Mark Zuckerberg has just bought a huge yacht (learn more here).
