Mbappé details threats and how PSG came to his aid
For years, Kylian Mbappe has been longing for a stint with Real Madrid, a team he's been devoted to since his childhood. Finally, after the transfer was completed, the celebrated French forward reveals issues at Paris Saint-Germain and how he now feels "free and contented."
In retrospect, Mbappe's last season with Paris Saint-Germain left him with a range of emotions. "I wasn't unhappy there, that would imply I'm spitting in the face of those who supported me," states the captain of the French soccer team. "But certain factors and folks made me miserable."
Apparently, the club dictated that he either maintain his contract until 2025 or face a benching for the entire season if he didn't comply. This was their reaction to his reluctance to renew his deal. "They told me they understood, they chastised me bluntly," remarks the 25-year-old star.
The duo of Luis Enrique, the coach, and Luis Campos, the club's scout, assisted him, according to Mbappe. "Without them, I would've never graced the field again." Despite being benched for Paris Saint-Germain's preseason tour of Japan and South Korea, Mbappe had his finest season under these conditions. He is now "free and satisfied," he reveals after agreeing to a deal lasting until 2029 with the Royals.
Even before the fanfare surrounding Madrid's fifteenth Champions League title subsided, the Spanish giants presented another reason for boisterous celebration. They won't see him in their team shortly though. "It'll be in July," reports the Spanish sports newspaper "Sport." As if to prove the point, the website briefly crashed when the anticipated and dominant announcement of his signing was made in a concise two-line statement. It's been reported that his contract will last five years, and he'll receive a hefty pay package of 150 million euros, spread out over the five years. By month's end, his contract with Paris Saint-Germain is set to lapse.
