- Max Gelhaar clinched the silver medal in the Paralympic triathlon competition.

Triathlon competitor Max Gelhaar clinches the second position at the Paralympics. The 26-year-old athlete, battling left-side spastic paralysis, ended up second to Spain's Daniel Molina, completing the race in 1:08:43 hours at the iconic Pont Alexandre III bridge in Paris.

Gelhaar managed to maintain a promising position in the front pack following the swim segment in the Seine. After the 20-kilometer biking leg, Gelhaar held the leading position, but Molina picked up the pace during the running phase and soon surpassed Gelhaar. The Netherlands' Nico van der Burgt rounded off the podium finish.

The event was delayed by an entire day on Sunday morning due to substandard water quality in the Seine.

Germany's flag-bearer and pre-race favorite Martin Schulz is scheduled to commence at 12:20 PM.

Gelhaar's strong performance in the swim segment placed him in a favorable position for the triathlon. Despite holding the lead after the biking leg, Molina's speed during the running phase allowed him to overtake Gelhaar, securing the first position in the triathlon.
