Marco Reus savors the blissful moment in the city of angels' realm.
Marco Reus, ex-Dortmund football star, impresses on LA Galaxy debut! He manages to net a goal, aid an assist, and deliver a fan-pleasing gesture within half an hour of his debut match with the Galaxy. It doesn't get any sweeter than this for a newcomer.
Marco Reus savored the significance of his inaugural goal for LA Galaxy. "The coaches informed me back here that this gesture carries a lot of significance for Galaxy supporters and residents of LA," Reus expressed post-match after his sensational introduction to Major League Soccer with his new side. A quarter of an hour following his replacement, he facilitated the opening goal by Riqui Puig (76th minute). Only eight minutes later, he notched the 2:0 finish against Atlanta United himself. After scoring for his previous stomping grounds featuring David Beckham and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he formed the letters L and A with his digits.
"It's wonderful we secured a victory in this game," Reus shared. Prior to his instrumental part in the 1:0, Galaxy had squandered a penalty opportunity and faltered against United despite their upper hand. When Reus and two of his companions took to the pitch at the 62nd minute, the atmosphere both in the arena and on the field transformed. "I was buzzing with excitement all day and craving this match," Reus said. In terms of physical fitness, he reports being at 70-80 percent and anticipates improvement in the coming weeks.
Reus only obtained his work visa on the day prior and was eligible to play. He officially penned a two-and-a-half-year agreement with LA Galaxy. His tenure with Borussia Dortmund had come to an end following a twelve-year stint. Apart from the congested traffic, he's been enamored with his new surrounding in the Angel City, observing the friendliness of the locals and undeniably the weather, which is particularly pleasant with sunrises brightening his mornings. "In addition to the traffic, everything is fantastic. The people are kind, and of course, the climate: it's truly delightful waking up to sunshine, which sets a different mood for the day."
Borussia Dortmund fans might be impressed to see Marco Reus's impact with LA Galaxy, given his impressive performance. Upon scoring his debut goal, Reus replicated the L and A letters, a gesture that holds significance for the club's supporters, as he had done during his time at Dortmund.
