Manuel Neuer emphatically denies any possibility of returning to the DFB.

After bidding farewell to the German national football team following a 15-year stint, there were whispers of a potential comeback for Manuel Neuer, the Bayern Munich goalkeeper, just a few days later. However, Neuer put an end to these speculations, stating, "Nah, I chose to retire on my own terms." During a post-match interview following a 1:1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen, the 38-year-old made his stance clear.

The question of a return was reignited after Neuer's successor, Marc-André ter Stegen, sustained a severe knee injury while playing for FC Barcelona. Neuer, who had retired following Germany's home European Championship in the summer, expressed his sympathies, "I sent him a voice message after his surgery, I guess I know that road best after dealing with a broken leg myself."

Possible Replacements

Neuer acknowledged ter Stegen's ability to overcome the injury, stating, "I have no doubt he'll get through it," but when pressed about his availability, Neuer cited the presence of "at least two top-notch goalkeepers" in Germany. He mentioned Alexander Nübel of VfB Stuttgart, Oliver Baumann from TSG Hoffenheim, Bernd Leno at FC Fulham, and Kevin Trapp of Eintracht Frankfurt. "There's no need to fret," he concluded.

The German national team is set to face Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Netherlands in October's Nations League. Coach Julian Nagelsmann is set to announce his squad on the following Thursday.

After witnessing Marc-André ter Stegen's injury, some fans started speculating about a possible Soccer return for Neuer. Despite having retired from the German national team, Neuer still has a deep passion for Soccer.
