Manchester's United commence their Premier League campaign with a triumph, as their recent recruit shines brilliantly on their debut.

Manchester United and Fulham put forth a performance that fell short of the spectacle fans hoped for, but United emerged victorious with a crucial 1-0 edge in the opening match.

The game saw a glimmer of excitement in the form of fresh Premier League recruit Joshua Zirkzee. The 23-year-old sealed the match's sole goal in the 87th minute, just as time seemed to be running out, securing United's triumph.

Zirkzee made his Manchester United debut on Friday, entering the game in the 61st minute, and the Old Trafford crowd was soon treated to a significant contribution from their latest acquisition.

Zirkzee, who joined Manchester United from Bologna in July, capitalized on a cross from Alejandro Garnacho, skillfully guiding the ball into the net to score the winning goal.

"Winning here in my first home game and scoring a goal...there's no better feeling," Zirkzee shared with Sky Sports following the match.

"In the end, we got the victory, that's all we wanted, that's what the fans deserve. Having this on top of it all...it's simply beautiful."

"I can't really put it into words, it's just a lovely feeling."

The Premier League opener appeared destined for a goalless draw, as both teams struggled to create opportunities throughout the game.

Bruno Fernandes came closest for United, only to be denied twice by Fulham keeper Bernd Leno. Mason Mount also had an opportunity for the home team, before Zirkzee clinched the victory with his late-game strike.

Manchester United ended the previous Premier League season in a less-than-satisfactory eighth position but finished the campaign triumphant after winning the FA Cup against rival Manchester City.

Erik ten Hag's team hopes to carry this momentum into the new season, eager to build upon their success.

In his debut game for Manchester United, Zirkzee demonstrated heroics.

"Of course, you need to win, especially at the start of the season. Gaining victories instills confidence and belief in your team," Ten Hag told NBC Sports post-game.

"But the manner of our victory pleased me. Not everything is perfect yet, but from here, we can develop and improve."

Premier League Kickoff

On Saturday, one of the early-season favorites begins its campaign.

Arsenal, who secured second place in the previous season, squares off against Wolverhampton Wanderers at home.

With ambitions of breaking Manchester City's reign, Arsenal must capitalize on their opening game to set a strong foundation.

Liverpool also kicks off its season Saturday, taking on newly-promoted Premier League team Ipswich in its first league match since Jürgen Klopp's departure.

New head coach Arne Slot makes his competitive debut and aims for a strong start, eager to make his mark at Anfield.

Manchester City, who has claimed four consecutive Premier League titles, will face Chelsea on Sunday, beginning their quest for an unprecedented fifth title.

The exhilarating moment when Joshua Zirkzee scored the winning goal in the 87th minute was a testament to his love for football and his new team, Manchester United. Despite Manchester United and Fulham putting up a less-than-spectacular show, football fans were ultimately rewarded with an exciting finish.
