Manchester United claims its maiden Women's FA Cup victory.
During nearly the entire first half, the scores stayed similar for both teams. Then, at the very last moment of the first half, Ella Toone scored an impressive goal for Manchester United, putting them in the lead.
In the second half, Tottenham struggled to make a comeback as United took control of the game.
After the match, Marc Skinner, the manager of Manchester United, stated to BBC, "Manchester United is a history maker. I don't need to remind the owners of this, they know. There's lots of love and support for our team, and growth in the future. Our aim is to compete for titles but winning this first piece of silverware is crucial. We've got a bright future ahead."
The sun shone brightly on the pitch, leading to a drink break in every half due to the intense heat. Initial play was close between the teams, and neither could break through the other's defense.
At the end of the first half, it seemed the match would end without any goals, but then Toone performed a bit of magic, avoiding a challenge by Eveliina Summanen and swerving past her before unleashing a strong shot from outside the box, curling it into the top right corner of the net, out of reach for Becky Spencer's fingers.
Soon after the second half began, United scored another goal as Rachel Williams jumped highest for Katie Zelem's well-placed free-kick, heading the ball into the net.
Within minutes, a defensive error from Tottenham enabled United to score a third goal. Spencer attempted to clear the ball but only passed it to Lucía García who easily tapped it in for a 3-0 lead.
García scored another goal later on when, after Lisa Naalsund controlled Melvine Malard's chip into the box, García shot the ball into the net. She added some more shine to the scoreline with this goal.
