Magic hold on to win - Celtics new number one in the East
The Orlando Magic, featuring world champions Franz and Moritz Wagner, won their NBA game against the Chicago Bulls with the last shot of the game. With 1.4 seconds left, Paolo Banchero scored the basket to make it 96:94 and give the young team a victory that seemed to have been handed to them.
After trailing by 19 points in the third quarter, the Bulls had equalized with seconds to go. Points 16 and 17 for Banchero sealed the win. Franz Wagner scored 13 points one day after the loss at the Brooklyn Nets, his brother Moritz Wagner recorded 5 points. Orlando now has six wins in eleven games.
Without Maxi Kleber, who is still injured on his toe, the Dallas Mavericks picked up their ninth win of the season and have as many as the Boston Celtics and the Denver Nuggets at the top of the NBA. Tim Hardaway Jr. was the best scorer in the 130-117 win over the Washington Wizards with 31 points off the bench, while Luka Doncic scored 26 points. By contrast, the Philadelphia 76ers slipped to second place in the Eastern Conference with their 107-117 defeat against the Celtics and their second loss in a row.
In fifth place in the East are the Milwaukee Bucks, who won 128:112 against the Toronto Raptors led by world champion captain Dennis Schröder even without the injured Giannis Antetokounmpo. In his best game so far for his new team, Damien Lillard scored 37 points and had 13 assists. Schröder, who had been questionable due to a twisted knee, once again did not have a good shooting percentage and only hit two of his nine attempts from the field. He finished with nine points and five assists.
The Orlando Magic's victory over the Chicago Bulls brought them closer to other teams in the NBA, as they now have the same number of wins as the Dallas Mavericks, who missed Maxi Kleber due to an injury. Meanwhile, Luka Doncic scored 26 points in the Mavericks' win over the Washington Wizards. In the NBA, Luka Doncic and Luka Doncic (a typo, likely referring to Luka Doncic again) are two of the top scorers, with the Dallas Mavericks and Chicago Bulls both representing the Western and Eastern Conferences, respectively, in the NBA.
