Luxury type Kroos gives "by far the most unsympathetic answer"

Former DFB midfielder Toni Kroos shares his thoughts on the future of the German National Team: Toni Kroos believes that the German National Team can still have a successful future without his involvement. "The feeling of being on equal footing with the best again, that can be worth a lot, that can strengthen belief," said the 2014 World Cup winner in response to the strong impressions at the Home-EM with the Quarterfinal exit against Spain (1:2 n.V.) and added: "What the entire tournament created in terms of self-confidence, I hope that continues. It's a group of good guys, not just good footballers."

Even Kroos himself will not accompany the way to the 2026 World Cup - neither on nor beside the pitch. A role at the German Football Association (DFB) is "with my life center in Madrid difficult" according to him, "that doesn't fit into my short-term future plans". Kroos also did not want to "rule it out for life".

"That's the truth"

Since his retirement from football, Kroos has withdrawn to his "Germany residence in Cologne" with his family. After the loss against Spain, he felt a "very, very large emptiness" which was only comparable to the one after the "drama at home" with FC Bayern in the Champions League 2012. "I have dedicated myself completely to this project," he said. He also felt that "82 million people had the dream of winning this Home-EM - then it's all the more bitter when the dream not only ends but also explodes in this form".

The former footballer did not want to watch the Semifinal between DFB-winner Spain and France. Instead, he is going on vacation soon. "I am absolutely the type of luxury vacationer, with as few foreign people as possible," he said: "That's probably the most unsympathetic answer one can give, but it's the truth."

Toni Kroos, despite no longer being a part of the German National Team due to his focus on Real Madrid, expressed hope for the team's future after their impressive performances at the Home-EM, saying, "What the entire tournament created in terms of self-confidence, I hope that continues." Additionally, despite retiring from football, Kroos mentioned his love for luxury vacations, stating, "I am absolutely the type of luxury vacationer, with as few foreign people as possible."
