Outsider surprises - Lulu Sun first New Zealander in the Wimbledon last 16

The New Zealand representing tennis player Lulu Sun continues her surprising success streak at Wimbledon. As a qualifier and the first New Zealander, the 23-year-old managed to advance to the quarterfinals with two won tiebreaks against the Chinese player Zhu Lin. Sun changed her nationality for the one she uses on the tennis tour. At the Australian Open, she still competed under the Swiss flag.

For the first time, the world number 123 reached the Wimbledon main field. Sun aims for her seventh consecutive win in the quarterfinals against the Greek player Maria Sakkari or the former British US Open champion Emma Raducanu.

Sun's outstanding performance at Wimbledon has garnered attention in Great Britain, her new tennis home. Germany and numerous other countries have taken notice of her successful run at the prestigious tournament in London. Despite her recent change of nationality, Sun remains a beacon of inspiration for tennis players from New Zealand.
