"Loud and passionate": Germany inspires Mahomes
Football superstar Patrick Mahomes can well imagine returning to Germany soon after the NFL premiere in Frankfurt.
"The fans were loud and passionate. They understand the game. It was great for the NFL to give us this opportunity. I'd love to play here again," said the 28-year-old after his Kansas City Chiefs' 21-14 win over the Miami Dolphins. Mahomes had played a major role in the success in the top game with two touchdown passes in the first half.
"It was super cool to be here"
The game in front of 50,023 spectators in the Frankfurt Arena turned into a football festival, with most of the supporters dressed in the Chiefs' red colors. "It was super cool to be here. The whole experience. Everyone was excited. I'd like to come back," Mahomes said. The game felt like a home game, the star player added.
His coach Andy Reid, whose team won this time mainly because of their strong defense, felt the same way. "It was very loud. It didn't matter whether the fans were from Germany or Kansas. It was loud and aggressive. We felt that and we're grateful for it," said Reid after the seventh win from the ninth league game.
Next Sunday (3.30 p.m./DAZN and RTL), Frankfurt will host another game of the season in the world's best football league. Former champions the New England Patriots will take on the Indianapolis Colts.
