Liev Schreiber Tackles Climate Change and Democracy with a Personal Approach

This man is a multitalented individual, a producer, writer, and director who has appeared in shows like "Ray Donovan" and "Hard Knocks" with ease. He is also a trained classical actor from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and Yale School of Drama. Uniquely, he holds an optimistic view of the world.

He uses his optimism and seriousness to explore major natural occurrences such as tornados and hurricanes as the host of the new CNN Original Series, "Violent Earth."

Schreiber shared with CNN his love for the ocean and how it influenced his stance on climate change. He is a parent to three young children, and he took it upon himself to inform them of actions they could take to help their world.

"Violent Earth" is a cautionary tale about the increasing frequency of violent storms. However, Schreiber is not without hope as we are taking strides to understand them better.

"We are making a difference. Things are heading in the right direction, but there's still a long way to go," Schreiber said. "It's crucial that we maintain this optimistic outlook and believe we can impact change."

This ambition for change is present in many of Schreiber's projects, such as his recent portrayal of Otto Frank in "A Small Light," a World War II limited series centered on Anne Frank's family and their rescuers.

Schreiber believes that people need to recognize their connections with each other as we witness a polarized world. He mentioned the situation in Ukraine, which is similar to the fight for democracy, an American idea.

"For me, 'A Small Light' is important because we're in a time where connectivity matters," Schreiber said. "In a world that seems more divided, reaching out to each other and understanding our common ground feels critical."

Although not as geopolitical, Schreiber has had a fervent following narrating "Hard Knocks" for 17 seasons. He'll be back with the Chicago Bears when the show returns in August.

"'Hard Knocks' is unique as it takes viewers into the lives of these players and coaches. They are all at a critical juncture in their careers and lives. Fans enjoy these behind-the-scenes glimpses," Schreiber commented.

His New Yorker roots imbue him with excitement for the upcoming New York Jets season.

"I'm a New Yorker, and I'm thrilled about this upcoming season for the New York Jets."
