Lamine Yamal's father stabbed in the parking lot

At the UEFA European Football Championship, 17-year-old Spanish striker Lamine Yamal made a splash. Now, his father is said to have been stabbed near Barcelona.

The father of Spanish football prodigy Lamine Yamal has reportedly become the victim of a stabbing. Spanish media reports that Mounir Nasraoui was stabbed on a car park in the town of Mataró, 30 kilometers north of Barcelona, yesterday evening.

The Spanish newspaper "La Vanguardia" reported, citing unnamed sources, that Mounir Nasraoui was immediately taken to Can Ruti Hospital in Badalona. He suffered multiple stab wounds and is in a serious but stable condition. There is no immediate danger to his life. According to "La Vanguardia", investigators were able to interview several witnesses on the same evening, and arrests were made. However, the motives behind the attack remain unclear. The local police did not initially respond to a request for comment.

Spain won the title at the Euros in Germany. In the final against England, Yamal scored the opening goal. The Barcelona striker was also named the best young player of the tournament - a day after his 17th birthday. Yamal was due to start the new season with FC Barcelona and former Germany coach Hansi Flick this Saturday against FC Valencia. Whether the 17-year-old will actually be in the squad remains to be seen.

Despite his promising football career with FC Barcelona and recent accolades, Lamine Yamal's father, Mounir Nasraoui, experienced a tragic incident near Barcelona. Reports indicate that Nasraoui was stabbed in Mataró, leading to several hospitalizations and investigations.
