Kim Virginia has concerns over her stepfather.
Kim Hartung, a reality TV personality, often keeps her family off the public radar. But she took to social media to share her worries for her stepfather, who's a politician in Germany's Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, after he was assaulted in Mannheim. This man is currently seeking a spot on the Mannheim city council.
A startling revelation for Kim Hartung: The man who was knifed in Mannheim on Tuesday evening is her stepfather. Per the party, it's Heinrich Koch, running for the city council election this Sunday.
Tearfully addressing her followers on Instagram, Kim disclosed more about this incident. "My stepfather is my one and only father figure. He was just stabbed with a knife," said Hartung, noting that she's not connected to her parents' political life and won't comment on it further.
The 29-year-old also shared an emotional response with "Bild" newspaper: "I spent the entire night crying. He's the only real dad I have and he's so kind, no violence comes from him. This attack could've been fatal. It's unthinkable that something like this happened."
Violent Attack with a Carpet Knife
At first, Hartung lacked details on her stepfather's condition, who sustained deep cuts to the head and abdomen during the knife attack: "I don't know how he's doing or if he made it through." The attack happened at around 10:30 pm near a Mannheim marketplace, as per police reports. AfD city council candidate Koch had caught some individuals destroying posters of his party there. When he stepped in to stop them, he was stabbed with a carpet knife and had to be tended to in the hospital. Two out of the three assailants remain at large.
Kim Hartung, hailing from Mannheim, has lived there again. After appearing on the RTL dating show "The Bachelor," she featured in several other reality TV projects, like "Are You The One" on RTL+. Most recently, she was a part of "Prominent getrennt" but left early due to a physical confrontation. On the RTL jungle camp at the onset of the year, she spoke about living with her biological father post her parents' divorce. This man was extremely violent and did not give her any attention. Her stepfather, however, stepped in as a father figure, providing the support she needed.
