2nd league - Kiel, Düsseldorf and Fürth with victories in the promotion battle

Holstein Kiel, Fortuna Düsseldorf and SpVgg Greuther Fürth took advantage of the draw in the Hamburg derby to make the promotion battle even more exciting.

Kiel won their home game against SV Wehen Wiesbaden 3:2 (2:0) and knocked Hamburger SV off second place in the table. HSV had drawn 2-2 with league leaders FC St. Pauli in the top match of the 2nd Bundesliga.

Fourth-placed Düsseldorf moved to within one point of Hamburg thanks to a 5-0 (3-0) win at 1. FC Nürnberg. Fürth are level on points after a 1-0 (1-0) away win at relegation candidates Eintracht Braunschweig. Only four points separate first and fifth place in the table.
