Exposé of Scandalous Incidents in Tinseltown - Kevin Spacey admits to instances of sexual misconduct in his new TV series, while also leveling allegations against others.
By the end of October 2017, a series of unfortunate events struck Kevin Spacey. Not long after he presented an award in Los Angeles, an email arrived, containing a message from actor Anthony Rapp who accused Spacey of sexually assaulting him 30 years ago. Rapp was just a teen at the time.
Spacey was stunned. His career, which had been thriving, reached its peak as the House of Cards star just completed filming for "All the Money in the World." Director Ridley Scott had recently shown him the final cut. Although proud of it, Spacey was disheartened that Scott had removed Spacey from the entire film.
Year 2024, and on an episode of Piers Morgan's show, Spacey sat across the host wearing a suit and tie, marking the first time since 2017 he stepped foot into a television studio. The conversation lasted over 90 minutes, with both sharing tears.
After Anthony Rapp's allegations, Spacey openly came out as gay. He took a break from work, underwent therapy, and faced more accusations. More than a dozen men alleged they suffered sexual assault at Spacey's hands, but in both legal criminal and civil matters, he was cleared of all charges. Elton John and his husband David Furnish testified for him, sharing their support for Spacey - the moment that triggered the first teardrop in the interview. Meanwhile, other people chose to distance themselves from him. His long-time colleague, Robin Wright, with whom he worked for years in House of Cards, stopped contacting him since 2017.
Over the past few years, Spacey endured dark times, however, also experienced the strength of family and friends. He strives for more than just being a talented actor: "I want to show everyone that I'm a morally sound person."
More Accusations From "Spacey Unmasked"
Morgan and Spacey also addressed the recently aired documentary "Spacey Unmasked," where ten men, including a boxer and a former Marine, made additional accusations about Spacey's inappropriate behaviors. A video clip featured a young actor claiming Spacey tried to touch his genitals on set, but according to Spacey, the men were paid by the documentary's producers to lie. He can provide evidence showing the young man from the video sent him unsolicited nude pictures, which were later displayed. His brother Randy also spoke in the documentary, sharing harrowing stories from their childhood. Spacey insisted he'd barely spoken to his brother in 50 years.
Spacey Talks About Inappropriate Behavior
Morgan approached Spacey with a cordial manner but their conversations appeared quite friendly. Morgan also pointed out situations in which Spacey was blamed for exploiting his position as a director to seduce young actors. During premieres, they drank together. Spacey was often cited for flirting with them, trying to kiss or touch.
"How have you acted inappropriately?" asked Morgan.
"I stepped out of boundaries," confessed Spacey. "I was inappropriate in a sexual way, doing things that the other person didn't want at the time."
"Some would see that as criminal," Morgan insisted. Spacey countered: "I just wanted to connect with people in an affectionate way." He promised never to do so moving forward. He wants to find love and maintain a relationship.
With a stalled career, Spacey finds himself on the verge of bankruptcy, trying to cover both legal and debt costs. He has forsaken his house as he can no longer pay the bills. His next living arrangement remains unknown. "I want to make amends," Spacey expressed his intentions of returning to working as an actor.
