Jobless football manager Jürgen Klopp amuses millions worldwide
With a crimson cowboy hat at a Taylor Swift concert, rubbing shoulders with Boris Becker during the Euro opening game in a stadium: Jürgen Klopp sure knows how to make the most of his post-Liverpool FC free time. And he's been quite the crowd-pleaser during his escapades.
Hitting the big 6-0 soon, Klopp's becoming an Instagram superstar, garnering over 4.1 million followers after just 21 posts. While he's no longer employed by the club, his life post-Liverpool is far from monotonous, as his fans can attest.
A night with Taylor Swift, another with Boris Becker. It's just another day for Klopp ever since he left Liverpool FC. "Three legends and I! Spending time with old pals was an absolute blast," Klopp stated under a photo. The image showed him standing alongside tennis pioneer Becker, fellow coach David Wagner, and advisor Marc Kosicke. They even celebrated his 57th birthday together on a recent Sunday.
Becker and Klopp share a unique bond. They first met nine years back in Wimbledon, where Ulla organized the encounter. "I've been a die-hard fan of his since forever, and we shared an unforgettable evening in Wimbledon. Our wavelengths harmonized, and we had a blast," Klopp recounted to the "Bild" newspaper. To this day, they keep in touch, even amidst Becker's toughest times. When Becker was sentenced to prison in England owing to insolvency offenses in 2022, Klopp stayed in contact, inspiring him with words of encouragement.
Life without football? Impossible!
Klopp returned to Anfield Road for the first time since his exit last week, but it wasn't his former team playing there, but Taylor Swift instead. "I've officially crossed over to being a Swiftie," Klopp declared following the concert, donning a pink cowboy hat.
He got a fresh haircut specifically for the concert and attended it with his wife Ulla. A snapshot depicted them in the audience during the 100th show of the Eras Tour- Ulla donned a pink hat while Klopp opted for a black baseball cap.
Football isn't the only thrill for Jürgen Klopp. Last Friday, he dropped by a Munich beer garden, and over the weekend, he caught the Euro opening game between Germany and Scotland at the Allianz Arena.
Gossip of a potential role at Red Bull
The current state of affairs at his ex-club Borussia Dortmund has caught his attention. Nuri Sahin took over as his eighth successor there, and Klopp offered his seal of approval. "Nuri might be young at 35, but I was too. I've no doubts that he, having enjoyed an exceptional playing career, will turn into an exceptional coach," Klopp suggested to "Bild am Sonntag."
As for his own future, Klopp maintains stoicism. The next steps following Liverpool remain uncertain. The latest whispers hint at a potential role at Red Bull. Given that the company recently sold shares in Leeds United, speculations of Klopp joining them as coach are only as likely as a drizzle-free English summer.
One thing is certain though: Klopp's next destination is set to be Mallorca. There, he owns a Finca and balances relaxation with professional obligations. A raffle is offering a private TV evening with Klopp, during which you can watch the EM quarterfinal alongside him on July 6. Theoretically, a game featuring German participation is a possibility, but only if the German team manages to secure 2nd place in Group A and win their round of 16 match.
