Joachim Loew is reportedly ready for a spectacular restart

**As a club trainer, Joachim Löw worked in Switzerland, Germany, Turkey and Austria. As the national trainer, he led the DFB-Team to the WM title. After three years without a job, he is now reportedly ready for a new challenge. According to a report, Löw is applying for the English national team job. The FA is currently looking for a successor for Gareth Southgate, who was removed from his position after England's painful 1:2 loss to Spain in the Euro 2021 final in Berlin.

Since his departure from the German men's national team after the Euro 2021 championship, Löw, who is 64 years old, has been without a job, despite frequent rumors and speculation. The British tabloid "The Sun" reports that Löw is in talks with the English Football Association. The FA is currently looking for a replacement for Southgate, who received around five million pounds per year (almost six million Euros) from the English FA, while Löw earned only roughly half of that in Germany.

For Löw, who has been responsible for the German team for a total of 17 years, the move to the island would be a spectacular new start. He would be the first German coach of the English team: Apart from the Swede Sven-Göran Eriksson (2000-2006) and Fabio Capello (2008-2012), only two foreigners have previously held the position. Löw began his coaching career in Switzerland and later worked for VfB Stuttgart, Fenerbahçe Istanbul, FC Tirol Innsbruck and Austria Wien. With Stuttgart, he won the DFB-Pokal, with Innsbruck the Austrian championship, and achieved his greatest successes with the German team.

In England, he would take over a team that, despite (or even because of) two lost Euro finals, is believed to have a bright future: Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden, Kobbie Mainoo, Declan Rice and Marc Guéhi were the majority of the starting line-up against Spain and were not older than 25 years. Löw could lead the Three Lions out of their lethargy with his fundamentally offensive playing style, which was criticized by Southgate during the tournament in Germany.

However, "The Sun" also writes that the English FA is said to prefer a domestic coach. Eddie Howe of Newcastle United, the former Chelsea coach Graham Potter, and the current U21 coach Lee Carsley are named as candidates, who prepared the team for the Nations League games in September after Southgate's departure. Southgate himself rose from the U21 to the A-team and from the interim to the permanent solution in 2016.**

After his departure from the German national team, Joachim Löw has been in talks with the English Football Association regarding potential transfers and rumors of him taking over the English team. With frequent speculation surrounding his future, Löw, as a highly experienced coach with successes in Germany and beyond, could bring a fresh perspective to English soccer.
