Actress Jasna Fritzi Bauer, aged 35, has shied away from discussing her personal life in public until now. In an exclusive interview with the German version of Vogue magazine, she revealed her five-year relationship with artist Katharina Zorn for the first time. Despite their long-term partnership, the couple has preferred to keep their romance under wraps. "We believe it's time to progress and make a statement," Bauer stated.
She also added, "Perhaps this is now just our role." This statement was in reference to the growing conservatism in society and the tense atmosphere. Bauer and Zorn have contemplated whether they should disclose their relationship for quite some time, aware of potential backlash that might come their way. The couple live together in Berlin with Zorn's daughter, Zoe. While this arrangement is common, Bauer muses, "But is it for a specific section of society?"
Zorn reminisced about their first encounter, "I went into the kitchen and wanted to sit at the table, Jasna was sitting there. I didn't know her, neither from television nor the theater." She instantly found Bauer "cute" and the pair spent the day together, including her daughter, who was just a baby.
Bauer openly stated her sexuality during the interview: "I identify as bisexual. Done." She has dated men and women in the past: "At some point, I dated women more, and then I dated men again. I had the feeling that I needed to make a decision, but I don't want a label." Generally, the actress is more captivated by a person's character than their gender and is frequently interested in women, particularly when getting to know them.
Affirming her identity, Zorn called herself "not binary, genderfluid": "Up until I was 14, I wanted to identify more as a boy, I found it more attractive, but I couldn't openly express why I also enjoyed my feminine side so much – until I found out that I'm genderfluid and sometimes feel more masculine, sometimes more feminine, and also express it through my clothes." This term resonated with her as it encompassed a feeling she hadn't encountered before: "Now I have a term, and I no longer have to be the 'lesbian with a child.'"
For Zorn, it proved challenging to conceal her affection for Bauer in public, "When we first met in 2019, Jasna had a string of events happening. She always took me along, but I'd arrive and leave discreetly, which often led to arguments as the situation was bizarre."
