Italian Sinner first finalist at ATP Finals
Big chance for the local hero: Jannik Sinner from Italy has become the first player to reach the final at the ATP Finals.
The 22-year-old crowd favorite beat Russia's Daniil Medvedev 6:3, 6:7 (4:7), 6:1 in the semi-finals to reach the final for the first time at the season finale of the eight best tennis pros. Sinner, who is the only unbeaten player at the ATP Finals this year, converted his first match point after 2:29 hours.
In the final, Sinner will play the winner of the second semi-final between world number one Novak Djokovic from Serbia and Wimbledon winner Carlos Alcaraz from Spain on Sunday (18:00/Sky). The top duel will take place this Saturday evening at 9.00 pm (Sky). Olympic champion Alexander Zverev missed out on a place in the semi-finals despite a 2:1 win record.
Jannik Sinner's victory over Medvedev secures him a spot in the ATP Finals final, marking his first time competing in the season-ending tournament's deciding match. In the forthcoming final, Sinner will face either Novak Djokovic or Carlos Alcaraz, both reigning titans in tennis.
