Electric-powered pick-up truck - Is the Tesla Cybertruck likely for Germany? Likely not the first model.
The Tesla Cybertruck has stirred up some intense feelings from people - some adore it, while others despise it. This massive stainless steel pick-up truck is even larger than the average car in America, which is already sizable! Measuring at 5.7 meters long, 1.79 meters high, and 2.4 meters wide, this vehicle is a titan in size.
Tesla plans to present the Cybertruck in Europe too, during the "Cyber-Odyssey" event at over 100 locations, even in many German cities. However, there are concerns about whether the Cybertruck will work in Europe on its own. Its dimensions and weight, which would make it a true "Cyber-Truck," may limit Tesla's potential customers.
Elon Musk was recently questioned about exporting the Cybertruck during the Tesla Annual Shareholders' Meeting. According to DPA reports, Musk stated that obtaining certification for other countries will likely happen "probably sometime next year." Musk mentioned that they primarily focused on building the Cybertruck with North America in mind because international standards would have negatively impacted the design.
"I think we will have to make a special version for Chinese requirements, European requirements," Musk commented. He feels confident that there's a high demand for the Cybertruck internationally.
Tesla has to act quickly, as they can reportedly manufacture around 1000 cars a week. This is barely enough to satisfy the demand in the USA. People who want to order a Cybertruck now assume they'll have to wait several years. Since Tesla can't export with their current capacity, they'll have to adjust their production strategies to allow room for international deliveries.
While Europeans and others are eager for the Cybertruck, Tesla needs to ensure the certification process doesn't hinder its production.
