Intensely overshadowed by the Brooklyn counterpart of the German "Sister Act"

In the thick of it all, fresh face Leonie Fiebich, boasting a camera, flashed a victorious grin. "What a grueling matchup!" declared the German export of the US powerhouse, New York Liberty, in the WNBA league. "But we pulled it off, so here's to more victories!"

At the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York Liberty continued their winning streak with an astounding eighth successive victory, nailing down the Dallas Wings 79-71. And who could take the credit for a significant portion of that victory? None other than Leonie Fiebich herself. Her career-high 16 points and 7 rebounds earnt her the coveted title of Player of the Game.

The 24-year-old German sensation, who came seventh with her national team in the Olympics in Paris, has quickly become a household name in New York. In her rookie season, Fiebich has played in 10 out of 28 games, solidifying her position as a regular contributor. Now, with her sights set on the championship, the sky's the limit for this rising star. With an impressive record of 25-4, New York Liberty remains the only team to secure a playoff spot ahead of schedule. With last year's second-place finish behind them, another opportunity for glory awaits, and Fiebich can't wait to make her mark.

Though the eyes may have been on the Sabally sisters - Nyara (New York/0 points) and Satou (Dallas/10), who clashed for the second time in just three days - it was Fiebich who stole the spotlight on Thursday (local time). Despite clutching her ribs after exiting the previous game against the Wings early due to injury, the tenacious Fiebich was back at the top of her game.

"We knew we needed to play with intensity and grit against them," said Fiebich, an MVP (Most Valuable Player) twice over in the Spanish league. With her impressive track record, Fiebich was drafted by the Los Angeles Sparks as early as 2020, before her rights were later transferred to Chicago Sky and ultimately New York. It's safe to say that New York reaped the rewards of this deal.

Leonie Fiebich's excellent performance in the WNBA, with 16 points and 7 rebounds, was instrumental in New York Liberty's sports victory against Dallas Wings. With the team's impressive 25-4 record, they remain focused on achieving more success in the upcoming championship.
