There have been multiple accusations against Sean "Diddy" Combs (54), which have incurred additional penalties. Howard University, a historically African-American institution in Washington, D.C., has chosen to rescind the rapper's honorary doctorate. This news was shared on the university's website on Friday (June 7).
Diddy's conduct is "irreconcilable" with the values of the university
According to the statement, "The Howard University Board of Trustees has unanimously decided to accept the return of the honorary doctorate conferred upon Mr. Sean Combs." This also implies the forfeiture of all advantages linked to this degree. Furthermore, a 2016 donation contract with Combs would be canceled, his scholarship program would be dismantled, a $1 million US donation would be returned, and a 2023 agreement with the Sean Combs Foundation would be revoked.
Moreover, the statement declares, "The conduct of Mr. Combs, as shown in a recently released video, is so irreconcilable with the values and principles of Howard University that he is deemed unfit to receive the highest honor of the institution." The university firmly opposes "any form of interpersonal violence."
Accusations against Sean Combs
Sean Combs has faced several accusations. For instance, his ex-partner, Cassie Ventura (37), claimed he had physically abused her throughout their ten-year relationship. In fact, in November 2023, the two reached a court settlement. On May 17, 2024, CNN aired a disturbing video: The footage from a hotel surveillance camera in Los Angeles depicts Combs charging down a corridor before shoving Ventura, making her trip, and dragging her on the ground.
Apart from these accusations, there have been other lawsuits and claims. The most recent one comes from the model Crystal McKinney, who has filed a lawsuit against Combs. She asserted that he supplied her with drugs and sexually assaulted her. Soon after, on April 2024, April Lampos filed a lawsuit too.
