"Injury detected": BVB transfer begins to falter

Actually, the transfer of Serhou Guirassy to Borussia Dortmund was supposed to be a done deal. However, during a medical check, a "injury was detected that requires further clarification". According to reports, Guirassy, who is 28 years old, has already activated his release clause at VfB Stuttgart.

The planned transfer of Serhou Guirassy within the Bundesliga from VfB Stuttgart to Borussia Dortmund is being delayed due to issues with the medical. "During a medical check on Serhou Guirassy, an injury was detected that requires further clarification," Borussia Dortmund announced. The transfer of the 28-year-old was supposed to be just a formality, according to media reports, with both parties having allegedly agreed on a four-year contract that only needs to be signed.

According to the "Bild" newspaper, Guirassy's old injury from Guinea's national team has not fully healed. The injury occurred during a game for the national team. Borussia Dortmund now wants to consult with a second specialist before the transfer can be completed. Only after a second medical check will the transfer be possible. Several media outlets have reported that Guirassy has supposedly triggered the release clause in his contract with Stuttgart, worth an alleged 18 million euros.

Guirassy, who scored 28 goals in the previous season, would be in competition with German national striker Niclas Füllkrug at Borussia Dortmund. Füllkrug, who made it to the European Championship, was a regular in Dortmund's attack last season. He scored twelve Bundesliga goals and eight assists, and scored two goals at the European Championship.

Performance diagnosis at Borussia Dortmund: Sule leaves a good impression

Despite the delayed transfer, Borussia Dortmund's professionals began their season preparation today, Wednesday. Nuri Sahin, the successor to Edin Terzic, welcomed 15 footballers to the BVB training center for the mandatory performance diagnosis. The European Championship participants and US national team player Giovanni Reyna, who played at the Copa America, will join later in the preparation. The Dutch national team also held a secret training camp on the BVB grounds before the European Championship semifinal against England.

The first professional to arrive at the training center in the early morning was former national player Niklas Süle. The center back was hardly used towards the end of the previous season by the Champions League finalist due to almost invisible fitness problems. Borussia Dortmund even published a picture of the 28-year-old in a significantly improved physical condition.

The team will train for the first time on Thursday. In nine days, the depleted Borussia Dortmund squad will travel to Thailand and Japan for the Bundesliga's overseas marketing week. In Bangkok and Osaka, the Sahin team will each play a test game. The training camp takes place from August 1 to 9 in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland. The national players are also expected to be present.
