The timing of the first trailer drop for the Trump biopic "The Apprentice" isn't just a coincidence. On September 10th, at 9:00 PM local time, the 78-year-old Donald Trump and 59-year-old Kamala Harris will lock horns for their initial TV debate as presidential contenders.

This film, helmed by director Ali Abbasi (43) and penned by Gabriel Sherman, delves into the formative years of Donald Trump in the 1970s and 80s. Back then, he was a highly ambitious real estate tycoon, garnering fame for his shrewd business tactics.

Young Trump's Companion: Notorious Lawyer Roy Cohn

By Trump's side throughout the film is the infamous lawyer Roy Cohn (1927-1986), who gained power as a political puppet master during the McCarthy era in the 1950s. In the movie, he serves as a ruthless mentor to the young Trump, with Jeremy Strong (45), known for his role as Lee Harvey Oswald in "Parkland" (2013), playing Cohn. Taking on the role of Trump is Marvel actor Sebastian Stan (42).

"Always Deny, Never Admit"

The first trailer for "The Apprentice" indicates that both actors will deliver solid performances. A crucial part of their portrayals revolves around Trump's contentious relationship with the truth and his penchant for employing manipulative communication strategies. Accordingly, Cohn's mantras, such as "Always deny, never admit" and "Attack, attack, attack," featured extensively in the trailer, shaping young Trump's character development.

The film had its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2024 and is slated to hit U.S. theaters on October 11th. The German premiere is planned for October 17th.

The biopic "The Apprentice" features Donald Trump's portrayal by Marvel actor Sebastian Stan, highlighting their professional partnership with infamous lawyer Roy Cohn during Trump's formative years.

Despite facing Kamala Harris in their first TV debate as presidential contenders, the release of the first trailer for "The Apprentice" showcases Trump's manipulative communication strategies, mirroring the influence of Roy Cohn's mantra, "Always deny, never admit."
