"Unveiling Rare Finds" - Inge encountering an old friend was a pleasant surprise for the saleswoman in the dealers' area.

"The art world has its portable version," says Inge Hufschlag as she steps into the Pulheimer Walzwerk. The 78-year-old German journalist from Dusseldorf carries an Issey Miyake pleated dress she purchased from a fashion fair in Florence. It was made available by the Japanese fashion designer to other artists to be used as a canvas. She's now intending to sell the unique garment at "Bares für Rares".

Expert Bianca Berding states that the pattern on the given dress was inspired by the American artist Tim Hawkinson and his stylized portrayal of the male body. This dress is part of the "Guest Artist" collection, which showcases motifs crafted by four modern artists.

"Bares für Rares": The Truth Brings a Brutal Reality Check

The rarity value of this item is not particularly high, Berding explains. The dress was presumably mass-produced between 1996 and 1998. Moreover, she classifies the condition as "excellent." The material is pure polyester.

Hufschlag has requested a price tag of 3,000 euros, but Berding disagrees, setting the actual value somewhere between 900 and 1,300 euros.

"Wow, that's quite a letdown," says moderator Horst Lichter. The seller takes a moment to gather herself before accepting the dealer's bid. "Sometimes, desire and reality are poles apart," she concludes.

In the vendor's space, she comes across an unexpected encounter: Markus Wildhagen, a fellow Düsseldorf resident and dealer. "I'm surprised, Inge," he says upon seeing her. Wildhagen sets the opening bid at 400 euros and remains persistent throughout the auction.

Parroting his spouse's interest in creating a vintage space, he offers 1,000 euros for the dress. The seller expresses her admiration for the dress finding a "top notch" new owner in Düsseldorf. The dress is sold for 1,000 euros.
