Individuals identifying as male experienced the most enjoyment on the Emmys red carpet event.
Classic looks didn't miss the mark altogether. Ramy Youssef, Joshua Jackson, the "Fargo" actor Lamorne Morris, and "The Bear" star (and Calvin Klein underwear model) Jeremy Allen White all presented themselves in a polished manner with basic tuxedos.
However, some of the most accomplished outfits of the evening subtly (and sometimes not-so-subtly) challenged the conventions of black-tie attire.
Irish actor Andrew Scott, for example, opted for a replacement of the standard white button-up and bow tie with a low-cut ruffled black shirt beneath a wide-lapeled Vivienne Westwood jacket. On the other hand, "Abbott Elementary" actor Tyler James Williams' Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo shirt might have been considered traditional cocktail wear, but for the fact it had no sleeves.
Williams' co-star Chris Perfetti also experimented with ruffles, teaming his wide-legged, floor-length pants with an extravagant shirt from Christian Siriano's Spring 2025 ready-to-wear collection. Similarly, the awards' co-host Dan Levy looked to the runways for his shirt choice, settling on a Loewe design with a refined, sculptural collar.
Attendees also had fun with cummerbunds, transforming the usual symbols of formality into something more playful. For instance, "The Traitors" actor Alan Cumming's cummerbund turned into a train that extended from his cream Teddy Vonranson jacket and functioned as a scarf. Meanwhile, "Fellow Travelers" co-stars Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey used cummerbunds to enhance their outfits, with Bailey's complementing the sleek, chest-baring shirt of his Giorgio Armani ensemble.
The night's other amusing accessories included lapel pins and brooches, while vibrant colors served as another way to make an impression. "Fallout" star Aaron Moten appeared in an all-red Kenzo suit with a Nehru collar, while Bowen Yang, nominated as Outstanding Supporting Actor for "Saturday Night Live," donned a cream Bode suit jacket over a bright red tasseled top. Lastly, "True Detective" actor Finn Bennett ditched a jacket altogether in favor of a silk maroon Saint Laurent mockneck.
The style of Andrew Scott's outfit deviated from the traditional black-tie attire, featuring a low-cut ruffled black shirt and a wide-lapeled Vivienne Westwood jacket. Tyler James Williams' Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo shirt, while appearing traditional with its lack of sleeves, added an unconventional twist to his outfit.
