Taylor Swift conquers Hollywood - In these Blockbusters, she can be heard
The American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift (34) has released eleven albums so far and is one of the most successful music stars of the present. In the film industry, the 34-year-old, who is performing seven concerts in Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, and Munich as part of her "Eras Tour" from July 17, has been established for a long time. There is a plethora of films and series in which the singer's songs have found a place.
"Hannah Montana: The Movie"
The American film "Hannah Montana" from 2009 marked the beginning. The plot follows the Popstar Hannah Montana, portrayed by Miley Cyrus (31). Swift wrote the Country-ballad "Crazier" for the film, which became part of the soundtrack. Fifteen years after the song's release, fans could enjoy it during the "Eras Tour" in Edinburgh, as the singer performed it as a surprise.
"Valentine's Day"
The American romantic comedy "Valentine's Day" (original title) from 2010 sets romantic hearts racing. Swift appeared in a supporting role, and she and actor Taylor Lautner (32) played a romantic couple. The two were in a real relationship that didn't last long. In the film's ending credits, Swift's songs "Today Was a Fairytale" and "Jump Then Fall" can be heard, with the former having made its debut in this film at the time it was released.
"The Hunger Games"
Based on the same-named novel by Suzanne Collins (61), the film "The Hunger Games" was released in 2012 and became a huge success. For the movie, Swift released the song "Eyes Open," which became part of the soundtrack. Additionally, Swift and the American music duo The Civil Wars recorded another song, "Safe and Sound," for the same film. Both songs have been a significant success.
"Fifty Shades of Grey: Dangerous Love"
The second film in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" series, "Dangerous Love," was released in 2017 and continued the turbulent love story of the characters Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson, 34) and Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan, 42). Swift produced the song "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" together with singer Zayn (31). The song became a significant commercial success, and it was also performed as a surprise during the "Eras Tour."
"Cats"
The musical film "Cats" premiered in 2019. Swift also appeared in the film, playing the role of the cat Bombalurina, who sings the song "Macavity." Additionally, Swift wrote "Beautiful Ghosts" for Francesca Hayward's (32) character Victoria, who performs the song in the film. In the ending credits, it's Swift who sings the song best.
"Where the Crawdads Sing"
The film "Where the Crawdads Sing" was released in 2022, based on the same-named novel by Delia Owens (75). After reading the book, Swift channeled her excitement for the story into writing and producing the song "Carolina." The song can be heard in the background of the trailer and in the film's ending credits. Swift also performed the song as a mash-up with "No Body, No Crime" during the "Eras Tour" in Liverpool.
For Swifties, the series "The Summer I Became Pretty," based on the same-named books by Jenny Han (43), is a true paradise. It's filled with nothing but songs from the singer and Swift is almost like the poster child for the TV-show. In the first season, released in summer 2022, numerous of her songs were heard. Among them were "Lover," "False God," "Cruel Summer," and "The Way I Loved You." In the second season, which came out a year later, Swift's work was even more present. In eight episodes, her voice could be heard a total of nine times. Her songs were also used in teasers and trailers.
"The Fall Guy"
In the American action-comedy "The Fall Guy," released in the spring of 2024, audiences could marvel at the Hollywood stars Ryan Gosling (43) and Emily Blunt (41) on the screen. For those who love action, they won't be disappointed, but even Taylor Swift fans have something to look forward to. In a particularly emotional scene, where Gosling portrays stuntman Colt Seavers sitting in a car, he chooses nothing but the ballad "All Too Well" by Taylor Swift as background music, allowing his emotions to run free.
"The Bear"
Not only Ryan Gosling had an emotional encounter with Swift's music in a car. In the second season of the series "The Bear," which came out in 2023, Swift is a recurring theme. Actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach (47) plays the father Richie in this show, who tries to reconnect with his daughter using Swift's music. In one episode, Richie, after a long day, sings loudly to Swift's hit-song "Love Story" in the car.
"Only Once More"
"Only Once More" is the name of the novel by Colleen Hoover (44) that the film of the same name is based on, which is set to hit the big screen in August. The leading actress is Blake Lively (36), who is also a good friend of Swift. The two have been seen together frequently and Lively was also a regular in the "Eras Tour" audience. It's no surprise then that the soundtrack to the film will feature the song "My Tears Ricochet."
