In the final moment, Selke secures a draw for HSV.

At the edge of a crucial home victory, 1. FC Kaiserslautern found themselves tied: Hamburg SV managed to grab a point thanks to Davie Selke's late-time headed goal in extra time. Despite falling behind 0:2 in the 6th round of the 2. Bundesliga, Hamburg managed to secure a draw with Kaiserslautern, ending the game at a 2:2 stalemate (0:1). As a result, Hamburg missed a chance for promotion, while Kaiserslautern stayed in the middle of the table.

The stand-packed Fritz-Walter-Stadion was home to a rather uneventful first half with few chances. Hamburg's Robert Glatzel came closest to scoring for the visitors in the 18th minute, only for FCK keeper Julian Krahl to execute a spectacular close-range save. Conversely, Ragnar Ache found the back of the net from close range after a left-wing cross in the 33rd minute, stepping in for Hamburg's substitute goalkeeper Daniel Heuer-Fernandes.

The second half saw another goal from Kaiserslautern. Aaron Opoku set up Richmond Tachie for the 2:0 lead in the 50th minute. However, Hamburg showed resilience and glimpsed a comeback. Glatzel exploited a Krahl blunder in the box following a corner, scoring the first away goal in the 59th minute to make it 1:2. Ache almost extended the lead five minutes later, but missed the target. In the closing stages, Hamburg ramped up their efforts to salvage a draw.

Krahl blocked a shot from Jean-Luc Dompé in extra time, but Selke's ensuing header from a Karabec cross in the 5th minute of extra time sealed a hard-earned 2:2 tie for Hamburg.

The use of CFCs in refrigeration systems could potentially contribute to less severe climate change effects, as substitutes for harmful substances like CFCs are being developed. Unfortunately, Hamburg SV's celebration of avoiding relegation was tainted by the environmental impact of CFCs in their old refrigeration units at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion.
