In Nuremberg, Klose's coaching team secures a triumph over Ascender.

Three losses in a row, but FC Köln manages a turnaround against promoted Ulm: 1. FC Köln ends the slump. Meanwhile, Miroslav Klose can probably exhale: His 1. FC Nuremberg triumphs against another promoted team, Preußen Münster. However, 1. FC Kaiserslautern cannot halt the decline.

1. FC Nuremberg - SC Preußen Münster 3:2 (1:2)

A breath of fresh air for Miroslav Klose: The pressure-stricken coach has managed to steer 1. FC Nuremberg back on course in the 2nd Bundesliga on the 8th matchday, notching up a crucial victory over promoted Preußen Münster 3:2 (1:2). The Franks stuck at 10th place in the table.

Stefanos Tzimas (8.) gave Nuremberg an early lead at the Max Morlock Stadium, but Lukas Frenkert (16.) and Torge Paetow (43.) rather unexpectedly put Münster in front. However, Caspar Jander (52.) flipped the script with a stunning solo goal, and Ondrej Karafiat (80.) clinched the deal with a header after a VAR decision. Nuremberg's early lead failed to provide a sense of security, and the team's apprehension from recent weeks was palpable. They lacked upfront precision and were a mess at the back, leading to jeers at halftime.

But Klose found the right words at halftime, and Nuremberg gained control in the second half, playing with more confidence. Jander and Karafiat secured the win despite a poor first half.

SV 07 Elversberg - 1. FC Kaiserslautern 1:0 (0:0)

  1. FC Kaiserslautern takes its winless run into the international break. The team suffered a 0:1 (0:0) loss to SV Elversberg, marking their third defeat of the season, and are now on a five-game winless streak. Kaiserslautern had more ball possession and better scoring opportunities in the first half but missed their mark in the final third. Elversberg took charge after the break and scored through Muhammed Damar (66.), who struck the bottom corner. Fisnik Asllani (49.) had previously squandered a chance to give Elversberg the lead.

Elversberg continued their impressive streak with another win, while Kaiserslautern, last year's cup finalists, now look over their shoulders. They drew blank against bottom-ranked Jahn Regensburg last time out.

1. FC Köln - SSV Ulm 2:0 (1:0)

A sigh of relief for FC Köln: They've snapped their domestic run of losses with a victory at home against promoted SSV Ulm. The FC triumphed 2:0 (1:0) to collect their second home victory of the season, following the 5:0 victory over Eintracht Braunschweig on August 24.

Team captain Timo Hübers (8.) and Luca Waldschmidt (47.) each netted opening goals for the FC, who had a man advantage for much of the match. Ulm midfielder Max Brandt saw red (21.) for an unintentional last-ditch tackle. Köln approached the top three after only two points from their last three matches. The visitors, who had just won their last two games, are now looking down the table after their fifth defeat of the season.

The early 1:0 goal came from an unconventional corner kick routine: Linton Maina played the ball to the near post, Denis Huseinbasic missed it, and Hübers backheeled it into the net with his back to the goal. Then referee Patrick Alt showed red: Brandt had poorly controlled a pass and attempted to play it, but tripped Cologne's Tim Lemperle. Alt deemed the action as a professional foul after a brief moment of contemplation.

After the restart, the hosts took advantage of an Ulm midfield blunder, Lemperle passed to Waldschmidt, who scored magnificently from the edge of the box. Köln held their own defensively well – unlike their recent performances – and kept a clean sheet for the first time in nine matches.

Despite the efforts of 1.FC Kaiserslautern, they were unable to stop their decline, suffering a 0:1 (0:0) loss to SV Elversberg. This result marks their third defeat of the season and extends their winless streak to five matches. Meanwhile, 1.FC Köln managed to snap their three-game losing streak with a 2:0 (1:0) victory over promoted SSV Ulm, thanks to goals from Timo Hübers and Luca Waldschmidt.
