Scandalous events in Hollywood - In his new TV show, Kevin Spacey admits to committing assaults but also levels accusations against others.
In the fall of 2017, Kevin Spacey's world shattered when he received a surprising email. Inside, Anthony Rapp's allegation of sexual misconduct from three decades ago emerged, with Rapp being just fourteen at the time. Spacey was caught off guard, as his prospering acting career was at an all-time high. He had just finished filming "All the Money in the World," and Ridley Scott had shared the final cut with him, though he was later cut out of all the scenes.
Now, during a candid conversation with Piers Morgan on June 11, 2024, Spacey describes this as the first time he's been in a television studio since 2017. The 90-minute interview is his first public appearance after the controversies.
Following the allegations against him, Spacey came out as gay. He laid low for the next seven years, receiving therapy, and battling more legal claims. Other men reported sexual assaults by him, but in each instance, Spacey was ultimately acquitted. Elton John and his husband played supportive roles in his legal battles. Meanwhile, other actors, like Robin Wright, distanced themselves from him.
Spacey confides in the conversation that he periodically faced dark times but cherished his family's support and friendship. "I'm no longer striving to be a good actor," he shares, "I want to show my character is good every day."
New Documentary Unveils More Accusations
The conversation veers towards the recently released documentary "Spacey Unmasked," featuring ten individuals, including a boxer and a former Marine. They make new accusations against the star. A video clip shows a young actor claiming Spacey tried to touch his genitals during a scene. The documentary's makers paid these individuals to lie, according to Spacey. He exhibits evidence that proves the young actor sent him unsolicited naked pictures, as shown in the video. His brother, Randy, also speaks in the documentary, revealing disturbing events from their shared childhood. Spacey distances himself from his sibling, having met him only a few times in their 50-year relationship.
Spacey Admits to Sexual Misconduct
Morgan questions Spacey about misusing his power as a film and theater director to pursue young actors. Post-premiere gatherings would involve drinking excessively, with Spacey reportedly flirting, attempting to kiss, and touching men.
"How have you behaved inappropriately?" Morgan inquiries.
"I've crossed boundaries," Spacey acknowledges, "touched someone sexually without their consent, and at the time, I didn't realize they didn't want it."
Morgan queries if this behavior is criminal, and Spacey responds by stating he aimed to get close to people "affectionately" instead. He pledges that he'll never behave this way again and hopes to find love and a relationship.
Spacey's career is on a standstill. With mounting debts and the expenses for lawyers, he's teetering on the verge of financial ruin. He has to sell his house because he can't keep up with the bills. "I want to make amends," Spacey talks about, "I'm eager to return to what I love: acting."
