As part of their journey to Colombia, Prince Harry (39) and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex (42), attended an event in Cali on a Sunday, emphasizing the empowerment of Afro-Colombian women. The royal pair greeted attendees at the city theater and exchanged handshakes during Cynthia Montañón's (37) musical performance, captured in a video disclosed by Vice President Francia Márquez's (42) office.

Enthusiastic Audience

During the talk, Meghan moved to the stage and addressed the crowd in Spanish. On Sussex.com, it was reported that she expressed her heartfelt gratitude for Colombian hospitality. She admired the country's rich culture and history, referring to the visit as a cherished dream and recognizing the strong bond within the community. She chuckled and wiped sweat off her brow as the crowd cheered, transitioning into English.

Meghan and Harry carried on their conversation with a group of kindergartners in Spanish as well. Little Archie's father, King Charles III (75), inquired about the students' names and ages in their native tongue, to which Meghan responded, "You share the same age as Archie, dear." Besides Archie, the couple is also blessed with a three-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet.

Meghan's Long-term Spanish Affection

"Her stint at the US embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and her time studying abroad in Madrid, Spain, significantly improved her Spanish proficiency," people magazine explained.

She showcased her linguistic prowess during a 2020 visit to a charitable organization in Los Angeles, California. Father Greg Boyle of Homeboy Industries, a group dedicated to supporting individuals embarking on a new life post-incarceration or gang affiliation, praised her, stating, "She spoke flawless Spanish with a young woman, an amazing revelation, and her Spanish was phenomenal."

The core focus of the Sussexes' extended Colombia trip revolves around cybersuitability and online discrimination. Colombia became a member of Harry's Invictus Games Community of Nations in 2022. During his visit, Harry also engaged with Invictus Games participants, playing a round of wheelchair volleyball with them.

The Commission praised Meghan's fluency in Spanish, highlighting her time at the US embassy in Argentina and studying abroad in Spain. At the event in Cali, The Commission recognized Meghan's ability to communicate effectively with the Afro-Colombian women, demonstrating the impact of her language skills.
