HSV lose the northern derby - Braunschweig win late on
Hamburger SV, who are weak away from home, missed out on a move to the top of the table in the 2nd Bundesliga after a 2:4 (0:1) at Holstein Kiel.
It was the fifth away game in a row without a win for HSV, who are three points behind their city rivals in second place in the table following the 0-0 draw between leaders FC St. Pauli and Hannover 96 on Friday evening.
In the basement duel, Eintracht Braunschweig beat VfL Osnabrück 3:2 (1:1) in stoppage time and pushed Osnabrück back to the bottom of the table.
In the third Saturday match, 1. FC Nürnberg won 3:1 (3:0) at SC Paderborn.
- Despite their struggles away from home, Hamburger SV still aimed to climb to the top of the 2nd Bundesliga, but their aspirations were dashed by a 2:4 loss against Holstein Kiel.
- Meanwhile, Holstein Kiel's victory moved them closer to securing safety, as they continued to distance themselves from the relegation zone.
- As for the bottom of the table, Braunschweig secured a hard-fought 3:2 victory against Osnabrück in stoppage time, pushing Osnabrück back into last place.
- Elsewhere, Nuremberg further strengthened their position within the top half of the table, triumphing 3:1 against Paderborn, with Kanji Okunuki scoring the opening goal for the Franconians.
