Jella Haase goes back to Netflix - How nice is the return of "Kleo"
In the past year, German thriller series "Liebes Kind" was the big success on Netflix from Germany. But in 2022, actress Jella Haase (31), known for her role as Chantal in the "Fack ju Göhte" films, made a splash on the international streaming service with her comedic agent series "Kleo." Now, Kleo (Haase), the former DDR-assassin, is back for season two after a long hiatus, and she's more convincing than ever.
About the Return of "Kleo"
At the end of the previous season, Kleo (Haase) and police officer Sven (Dimitrij Schaad, 38) lost Erich Mielkes infamous red suitcase once again. Kleo, who had landed in bed with Sven for the first time, also felt betrayed by her new partner.
Now, the hunt for the elusive red suitcase intensifies. Kleo has realized the significance of the documents inside for German reunification and Europe's future after the end of the Cold War. However, the coveted object also attracts the attention of powerful intelligence agencies, the CIA and KGB. Their representatives act little delicately in Berlin, killing people and attempting to get their hands on the suitcase.
Kleo and Sven, who is trying to regain Kleo's trust after his betrayal, also pursue the red suitcase. In addition, Kleo tries to uncover more about her past and tragic family history.
Grandiose Lead Actors, Authentic Atmosphere
The six new episodes of the Netflix series "Kleo," which will debut on July 25, seamlessly pick up where the premiere season left off. The German production already captivated viewers with its unique blend of fact and fiction when looking at the fascinating year 1990 in Berlin.
Between abandoned state-owned enterprises, vacant apartments of East Germans who had fled to the West, and the emerging techno subculture of Berlin, Kleo Straub moves once again in season two. For instance, her new West friend, fan favorite Thilo (Julius Feldmeier, 37), has finally been able to open his own club in a vacant factory hall. The party location, which he has fittingly named Sirius B - after the star he believes in - is where the action unfolds.
Lead actress Haase has enjoyed another major success since the first "Kleo" season with "Chantal im Märchenland," a spin-off to the "Fack ju Göhte" series that attracted nearly 2.5 million visitors to German cinemas. In the return of "Kleo," Haase once again shines in the role written for her by series creators Hanno Hackfort (54), Richard Kropf (45), and Bob Konrad (56). She stars alongside "Die Känguru-Chroniken" star Schaad to lead the acting ensemble.
New to the cast this time are Andrej Kaminsky ("John Wick: Chapter 4," 60) as the bitter KGB agent Nikolai, Robin Gooch ("The Reader," 63) as the German CIA chief Rose, and musician Alli Neumann (29) as Raverin Ciana, who develops a special relationship with Thilo.
