In the "Armchair Expert" podcast, Hollywood actor Kevin Costner, 69, shared his feelings about music legend and co-star Whitney Houston. He revealed that he felt the need to protect the singing icon, stating, "I don't know what it was, but there was a moment when it became clear to me that the world had a higher expectation of who we were, and so I allowed myself to be her imaginary bodyguard." Costner further explained, "I was her imaginary bodyguard."
During the making of "Bodyguard," Costner's character, Frank Farmer, was tasked with protecting pop star Rachel Marron (Houston). Costner felt a connection to this role and admitted, "There was a moment when she trusted me." As a producer for the film, Costner intervened on Houston's behalf during the editing process, keeping her requests in mind. The film was released in 1992.
Whitney Houston, one of the biggest stars of the 80s, tragically passed away at the age of 48 in February 2012 when she was found dead in a hotel room in Beverly Hills. Costner honored her memory with a speech at her funeral.
