Housekeeper demands 368,000 euros from Neymar
Neymar is currently recovering from his cruciate ligament rupture, but he is facing a lot of trouble in his former home country of France. His former housekeeper in Paris is accusing him of disregarding "elementary rules of employment law".
More legal trouble for Neymar: the Brazilian soccer superstar is being sued in the labor court by his former housekeeper from his time at Paris St. Germain. The AFP news agency learned this from the woman's lawyers. According to the newspaper "Le Parisien", the plaintiff, who did not have a residence permit for France, is demanding 368,000 euros in compensation. Neymar's management has not yet responded to an AFP inquiry.
From January 2021 to October 2022, Neymar "took advantage of our client's precarious situation to impose undignified working conditions on her, in violation of the elementary rules of labor law," the lawyers wrote in a statement. The 31-year-old is said to have chased the pregnant woman out of the house when she complained of pain.
According to the lawyers, Neymar was guilty of a "clear violation of the legal protection provisions for maternity". He had also dismissed the housekeeper after the birth and "left her completely helpless, especially because she had not registered with the social security institutions". After going to the labor court, the lawyers are also considering "prosecuting the case under criminal law". Each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Neymar moved from FC Barcelona to Paris in 2017 for a record transfer fee of 222 million euros, which still stands today, and played on the Seine until the summer - before moving to Saudi Arabia. However, he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in Brazil's 2-0 World Cup qualifying defeat in Uruguay in October. The 31-year-old, who has been under contract with Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia since the summer, will be out of action for several months. He underwent successful surgery in Belo Horizonte at the beginning of November.
Despite his ongoing recovery from a cruciate ligament injury, Neymar's legal issues in France continue to escalate, as the soccer star now faces processes related to labor law following a dispute with his former housekeeper. The Brazilian superstar, who once played for Paris Saint-Germain, is being sued for allegedly violating labor laws and maternity protection regulations, with his former employee demanding a significant compensation of 368,000 euros.
