- Hometown Misdeed - "Murder with Opportunity" initiates the series
ARD brought back the crime series "Murder with a View" in 2022 after a long break, and it's back for more this year. The first part of the fifth season aired in the spring, and six more episodes will be shown starting tomorrow. Tune in to this entertaining family series starring Katharina Wackernagel and others on Tuesdays at 8:15 PM.
In the Eifel village of Hengasch, Detective Marie Gabler from Cologne is still having trouble fitting in. The locals view her as an overly zealous investigator and make her settlement difficult. They argue, scheme, and complain, especially in the village pub where Heike Schäffer (Petra Kleinert) holds court.
Struggle for Supremacy
Detective Marie Gabler doesn't always have an easy time with her team, Heino Fuß (Sebastian Schwarz) and Jenny Dickel (Eva Bühen). There's often a power struggle. In her personal life, things are going well for the Detective with farmer Gisbert (Kai Schumann).
Head writer Johannes Rotter describes the season as follows: "Hengasch remains a provincial backwater with its cunning locals and their mistrust of anything foreign or new, especially Detective Gabler, who is still seen as a disruptive element." Because Hengasch is so sleepy, it's good to have Detective Gabler around to expose the town's little flaws: theft, homicide, extortion, murder.
Frustrated Dreams
In the six episodes, Detective Gabler has a lot on her plate: a deceased real estate agent and two gangster women challenge her investigative skills. Then Jenny goes missing at a mini-golf tournament, and privately, Marie must face her past. Her ambition to return to her professional life in Cologne is thwarted.
The production team of Jakob Claussen, Thomas Klimmer, and Amelie Syberberg promises that viewers will see a particularly determined Marie Gabler who still recognizes even the most improbable crime as such. And the supporting characters, Heino Fuß, Jenny Dickel, Heike Schäffer, or Arthur Brandt, are likely to reveal some intriguing aspects of themselves as the thrilling and absurd criminal cases unfold.
