Hoffenheim defeats FC Bayern, causing them to drop to third place.

VfB Stuttgart pulls off an incredible last-minute comeback to overtake FC Bayern and secure the runners-up position in the Bundesliga. Munich fails to maintain a 2-0 lead against Hoffenheim, resulting in them finishing in third place. Numerous records were set during this exciting finale, including a first for Hoffenheim who qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

TSG Hoffenheim vs FC Bayern Munich 4:2 (1:2)

In one of his final games as head coach of Bayern Munich, Thomas Tuchel missed out on a potential consolation prize. The serial champions lost 2:4 (2:1) at TSG Hoffenheim, relinquishing their chances of a Supercup appearance. In a season filled with speculation, Tuchel had categorically ruled out the possibility of an ongoing commitment.

Alphonso Davies (6th) and Mathys Tel (4th) scored the final goals of Tuchel's tenure, while Maximilian Beier (8th) and Andrej Kramaric (68th, 85th, 87th) rallied for TSG. Hoffenheim, who finished in 7th place, will play in international competition for the fourth time in their history and first since the 2020/21 season. If Leverkusen win the cup, they would join the UEFA Europa League, and if Kaiserslautern claim the title, they will enter the UEFA Conference League.

In his last match as coach of Bayern, Tuchel was without significant players such as Jamal Musiala, Leroy Sané, and top scorer Harry Kane. Thomas Müller matched Sepp Maier's record, appearing in his 473rd Bundesliga match. Tuchel's farewell sees Müller produce a perfect header from a Davies cross for Tel to convert. Bayern's aggressive formation with a three-man defence had them started off powerfully; with Davies making it 2-0 for Munich in the 6th minute. This lead was short-lived as Manuel Neuer made a costly error in the buildup, allowing Beier to close the gap.

The first half settled into a more casual pace in front of a 30,150-strong crowd. Hoffenheim held possession at times but lacked precision in the final third, while in their few attempts, Bayern created chances for Konrad Laimer (18th) and Müller (42nd). Ihlas Bebou (34th) and Andrej Kramaric (45+2nd) tried to test Neuer at the other end.

Hoffenheim intensified their efforts in the second half, but their imprecise attack frequently hindered their progress. Bayern had better scoring opportunities in their limited attacks, with Müller (61st) narrowly missing the target. As the clock wound down, Hoffenheim regained their momentum, with Kramaric forcing Neuer into a save (65th), before winning the match with a brace in the closing minutes.

VfB Stuttgart - Borussia Mönchengladbach 4:0 (2:0)

Serhou Guirassy, together with VfB Stuttgart, capped their memorable campaign by securing the runners-up spot. Under Sebastian Hoeneß's guidance, this promising team proved victorious against Borussia Mönchengladbach and set a new record in the club's history of 73 points. Joining the UEFA Supercup is a further reward for the Swabians' success.

Richly rewarded and celebrating a record-breaking season, VfB Stuttgart aimed to add a second place finish to their trophy collection in their last match. Guirassy (23rd, 31st) scored his 27th and 28th goals for the Swabians and surpassed his team's 2006/07 championship season's 70-point total. A late show from sub Wooyeong Jeong (75th) and Silas (83rd) cemented their position. Gladbach's campaign ended painfully with 34 points, far below their expectations.

With a Champions League ticket already secured, VfB set new targets for the final leg of the season. Hoeneß's passionate words before the match aimed to create a unique moment for the VfB team history with 73 points, surpassing marks from legendary players Waldemar Anton (8th), Maximilian Mittelstädt (11th), and Stefan Kießling (2012/2013), Ailton (2003/2004), and Gerd Müller (1969/1970). The drama started as Waldemar Anton and Maximilian Mittelstädt tested Gladbach's keeper, Jonas Omlin, within the first six minutes.

Despite the visitors' attempts to play on the counter, VfB's strong attack caused havoc. Guirassy took his 12th opportunity this season to score the first goal for the home side. Only Kießling (2012/2013), Ailton (2003/2004), and Gerd Müller (1969/1970) had previously achieved this Bundesliga record. Gladbach attempted to regain the lead, but the VfB defence stood firm until Guirassy secured his brace just before half time.

Borussia Mönchengladbach scored no goals despite a lively performance, resulting in another season ending with low points and missed expectations.

In a match featuring a 28-year-old with a €20 million release clause, the player scored by shooting with his left foot, barely missing the post. Despite this, Borussia fought back, and their goalkeeper, Nübel, saved VfB from scoring the equalizer during a triple chance. Later on, Guirassy missed the chance to get a hat-trick after hitting the crossbar.

The second half saw a more improved Borussia team, with Nübel once again active in stopping Alassane Plea (47). After defending against their pressure, the VfB team saw Undav (60') trying to test Omlin with a shot from a distance. Afterwards, Jeong and Silas came in as substitutes and continued the effort.

Guirassy again and again.
