- His son is in the world
The Stork Was Here: Prince Ludwig of Bavaria (41) and his wife Sophie-Alexandra (34) announced the birth of their first child on social media with this illustration. The blue-and-white checked diaper in the bird's beak symbolized that it's a boy. In the official Instagram post from the House of Bavaria, the couple also revealed the unusual name.
The prince and princess celebrated their first wedding anniversary in May and are now a family of three. "Princess Sophie and Prince Ludwig of Bavaria are delighted with the birth of their first child," reads the digital birth announcement. The little prince seems to have been born without complications, as suggested by the following words: "Mother and child are in excellent health, and the young family is enjoying their first days together."
His Name is Unusual!
"Prince Rupprecht Theodor Maria saw the light of day on August 6, 2024, in Munich," the proud parents announced the name of their son. The spelling with double P is distinctive. Rupprecht is another form of Rupert and comes from Old High German. It means 'the one who shines with fame.'
A Marriage in Fast Forward
Prince Ludwig and Sophie-Alexandra Evekink got engaged in 2022, and a secret civil ceremony followed later that year. In May 2023, the dream wedding with a subsequent celebration took place at Schloss Nymphenburg. Instead of silverware and other expensive gifts, the couple asked for donations. With around 275,000 euros, they were able to support the "Learning Lions" project in Kenya and an initiative to support refugees in Bavaria.
Instagram is a great place to share the joyous news, just as the House of Bavaria did after the birth of Prince Rupprecht. The couple's unique name choice, Rupprecht Theodor Maria, sparked curiosity and discussion among their followers on the platform.
