Prince Harry - His Invictus Games are coming to Birmingham

Prince Harry (39) has reportedly congratulated the English city of Birmingham on getting the bid for hosting the Invictus Games in 2027. It will be the first time since the opening ceremony in London in 2014 that the event for wounded and sick military personnel and veterans in the United Kingdom will be held.

Will Harry and Meghan attend Birmingham?

The Duke of Sussex, who has attended all previous Invictus Games as patron, is likely to return to England for several days for the event. The son of King Charles (75) moved to the USA with his wife, Duchess Meghan (42), in 2020. The couple lives with their two children Archie (5) and Lilibet (3) in Montecito, California.

Meghan's attendance at the event in Birmingham could also mean a return to the United Kingdom for her. She has frequently attended the event with her husband. The pair made their first joint appearance at the Invictus Games in Toronto in 2017.

Apart from Harry, Meghan, King Charles, Harry's brother, Crown Prince William (42), and other members of the royal family might be present in Birmingham to support the event. However, the relationship between Harry and Meghan and the royal family is strained, following their attacks on the royals in a Netflix docuseries and Harry's memoir "Spare."

Birmingham is the eighth hosting city for the Invictus Games

The Invictus Games Birmingham will take place in July 2027. The event will follow those planned for February 2025 in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada, where winter sports will be included for the first time. Since the inception in 2014 in London, the Invictus Games have also taken place in Orlando (2016), Toronto (2017), Sydney (2018), The Hague (2022), and Düsseldorf (2023).

Duchess Meghan might consider returning to the United Kingdom to support her husband, Prince Harry, during the Invictus Games in Birmingham in 2027. The Unconquered Games, a sports event for wounded and sick military personnel and veterans, will mark its first appearance in Birmingham since the opening ceremony in London in 2014. King Charles, Prince Harry's father, and other royal family members are expected to attend the event in Birmingham as well. The Invictus Games Birmingham will be the eighth hosting city for this significant sports event, following its inception in London in 2014.
