Cinestart "Ich - Einfach unverbesserlich 4" - Here part three was returned to us
The cleansed Supervillain Group (German voice actor: Oliver Rohrbeck, 59) and his little yellow Minions return to German cinema screens on July 11. On this date, the much-anticipated sequel "Despicable Me 4" begins, almost exactly seven years after the predecessor "Despicable Me 3".
In the sprawling animation film franchise, which includes the two 2015 and 2022 "Minions" spin-off films, it's becoming increasingly difficult to keep track. For those who can't remember the end of part three, here's a quick reminder.
This is what happened in "Despicable Me 3" and the previous films
The "Despicable Me" franchise consists of six films and holds the title of the most successful animation series in film history with an earnings of over 4.8 billion US-Dollars. "Minions" and the follow-up "Minions: The Rise of Gru" told the origin story of the clean-cut little Minions and the young Gru.
Chronologically, the "Despicable Me" main film series is set next. In "Despicable Me" from 2010, Supervillain Gru adopts the three orphans Margo (Emilia Raschewski, 19), Edith (Asya Tolaz), and Agnes (Luiza Kampf). Initially, Gru only wanted to use them for a villainous plan, but they grow on him and become an integral part of his life.
In "Despicable Me 2" from 2013, Gru and his daughters meet the feisty Lucy Wilde (Martina Hill, 49), an agent of the Anti-Villain League. At the end of the film, Gru and Lucy get married - and Margo, Edith, and Agnes have a mother.
Meanwhile, the former villain turns into a fighter against crime. Since the second "Despicable Me" film, Gru has worked for the Anti-Villain League - a circumstance that increasingly irritates his Minions. They leave him in "Despicable Me 3" temporarily.
In the third film of the main series, Gru then unexpectedly meets his twin brother Dru, while Lucy is revealed to be the mother of Agnes, Edith, and Margo.
This is what's happening in "Despicable Me 4"
In "Despicable Me 4", the new installment in the series, Gru's patchwork family has grown even larger. The trailer for the sequel already shows Baby Gru Junior. In addition, Gru faces a new nemesis: the Supervillain Maxime Le Mal (Jens "Knossi" Knossalla, 38) and his girlfriend Valentina (Iris Artajo, 62) steal Baby Gru, which brings his family and the Minions into the picture.
Five of Gru's little helpers are transformed into Mega-Minions with special abilities by a Super Serum in the fourth "Despicable Me" film. A plethora of action and humorous scenes for the entire family are guaranteed in the end.
