Herbert, the world champion creator, resigns early.
Germany's national basketball team is bidding farewell to the brains behind their 2023 World Cup triumph - Gordon Herbert. The German Basketball Federation (DBB) has confirmed his departure, which will take place after the Olympic Games.
The highly successful coach, who guided a team led by Dennis Schröder to the World Championship title, has decided to cut his contract short. He was initially due to stay on until 2025.
Herbert became the DBB's head coach back in September 2021, succeeding Henrik Rödl. The team came third at the 2022 home European Championships under his guidance. It's still unclear who will take over from the Canadian coach.
