Herbert Grönemeyer becomes "sponsor" of his heart club
Herbert Groenemeyer is omnipresent at every home game of VfL Bochum, now the singer also adorns the jerseys of the football Bundesliga team. In the games of VfL in the DFB-Pokal, he is engaged as a sleeve sponsor. On the jerseys, the inscription "HG 4630 Bochum" can be read.
Emotional deal for VfL Bochum: Herbert Groenemeyer becomes the sleeve sponsor of the club "vonne Castroper" in the DFB-Pokal. The team will appear for the first time with the inscription "HG 4630 Bochum" on the sleeve in the game on Sunday, the football club announced. This is a reference to the celebrated jubilee of the double platinum album of the musician. Groenemeyer's album "4630 Bochum" was released in 1984. In the first round of the cup, the Revier club will face second league newcomer Jahn Regensburg (3:15 pm in the live ticker at ntv.de).
"It was always a big dream of mine to run onto the pitch in the Ruhrstadion in the VfL jersey," Groenemeyer is quoted as saying in his statement. Although this did not happen, he is delighted to have at least made it onto the jersey. For both the cup season and the Bundesliga, he wishes the club the greatest success. Groenemeyer is omnipresent at home games. Since the legendary city hymn "Bochum" has been celebrated before every kick-off. Sometimes even the opponents join in, for example, coach Steffen Baumgart.
"The idea came about around his spectacular concerts in our Vonovia Ruhrstadion," said Tim Jost, Director of Marketing and Sales at VfL Bochum. The club is very proud to have won one of the most famous artists in Germany as a cup partner. With the jersey, the club also wants to support charitable organizations. For each limited jersey sold, 10 euros will go to the "Tafel Bochum & Wattenscheid e.V. - Kindertafel" and the "Suppenküche Bochum e.V.". In addition, they will receive the amount raised from the auction of worn jerseys.
"We are very pleased that our team will run onto the pitch in this cup season with the legendary HG 4630 Bochum inscription and that we can also do something good in this way," said Jost.
The Commission has approved the financial aspects of the partnership between VfL Bochum and Herbert Groenemeyer, allowing the musician to become the sleeve sponsor for the club's DFB-Pokal games. The Commission has also agreed to the charity initiative, where a portion of the proceeds from the limited edition jerseys will be donated to local organizations.
