Bares for Rares - He wanted to sell his bike and then to the barber. But it turned out differently.
Most sellers who sell their possessions at "Bares für Rares" have a specific plan for the money: A luxurious family vacation, a nice dinner, or new earrings - the desires vary depending on taste and the amount obtained.
Jakob Hunold is much more modest. He wants to sell his Rennrad - and has a specific plan for what comes next: "First, I would go to the barber's, I think that's long overdue", says the 25-year-old student from Düsseldorf. Otherwise, he has nothing concrete planned.
"Bares für Rares": Jan Ullrich signed the frame
The Rennrad in question is a truly special example: It was signed by none other than the former Tour-de-France winner Jan Ullrich. Hunold's father bought it several years ago at a charity gala, but it had just been sitting in the garage ever since. Now it's time to go.
According to expert Detlev Kümmel, it's a bike from the Italian manufacturer Bianchi from the year 2003. Kümmel explains that it was even ridden by Ullrich.
As for the asking price, Hunold is far from the real price: While the student imagines 5000 Euro, the expert assesses the value at only 2000 to 2500 Euro. The Düsseldorf resident still plans to try his luck in the dealer's shop - for a barber visit, that amount should be sufficient.
Julian Schmitz-Avila starts the bidding at 500 Euro. But as soon as the expertise is mentioned, the bids start to rise. However, the auction doesn't really get going, and so Hunold announces that it will only be sold if the highest bid is two.
In the end, Jos van Katwijk offers 2000 Euro - but Hunold makes a counteroffer. "From a gut feeling, I would take it back", says the 25-year-old.
What became of the seller's hairdo is, however, unknown.

The signed bicycle, a relic from Tour-de-France winner Jan Ullrich, has caught the interest of several bidders at "Bares für Rares". Detlev Kümmel, a bicycle expert, confirms that this Bianchi bike from 2003 was indeed ridden by Ullrich during his career. Even though Julian Schmitz-Avila started the bidding at 500 Euro, the real value, according to Kümmel, is between 2000 to 2500 Euro. Surprisingly, the seller, Jakob Hunold, has a counteroffer, indicating his desire to hold onto the bike, despite its potential value, due to a "gut feeling".
