Schlager star Roland Kaiser (72) brought together more than 50,000 people in Dresden with his four-day "Kaisermania". In addition to the 10,000 spectators at the last of the four concerts, 1.24 million fans watched from home on Saturday (3rd August), as reported by the industry service "DWDL". "I am grateful that we had such a wonderful time together," Kaiser wrote on Instagram after the concert series. This year, the singer is celebrating his 50th anniversary on stage.

"Not just a fling anymore"

In an emotional message, the singer expressed that he is still "in a kind of 'emotional overload'" after the 53rd "Kaisermania". He thanked his fans for their attendance: "Your enthusiasm in front of the stage, as well as on the surrounding Elbe meadows and in the city itself, is indescribably beautiful for my band and me."

He also had warm words for the city where "Kaisermania" has taken place since 1997. "Once again, it's clear to me - Dresden is not just a fling anymore," he emphasized his close connection to the Saxon state capital. "It was indescribable," it is also said at the end of the concert clip shared with the message. The clip gives an impression of the size of the approximately three-hour concert. Seas of lights, celebrating fans, and the light show dominated the images.

Many young viewers and a mishap

According to "DWDL", the final concert was watched by an above-average number of young viewers on TV. The MDR broadcast reached a market share of 3.3% among 14- to 49-year-olds. Across all age groups, the share was 6.2%. After the broadcast of "Kaisermania", 640,000 Schlager fans continued to celebrate with the show "The 30 most beautiful hits of Roland Kaiser".

However, not everything went smoothly before the concert. Kaiser had to find a last-minute replacement for one of his musicians due to an accident. As Kaiser reported during the concert, according to the "Bild" newspaper, guitarist Billy King was hit by an e-scooter. Instead, he brought the injured guitarist onto the stage for a duet and sang "She's a Lady" together.

After expressing his gratitude to his fans and the city of Dresden, Roland Kaiser acknowledged, "Dresden is not just a fling anymore," highlighting the deep-rooted connection he has with the Saxon state capital. Additionally, the final concert of "Kaisermania" had an above-average number of young viewers, with MDR achieving a market share of 3.3% among 14- to 49-year-olds, according to "DWDL."
