In a stunning turn of events, the Indiana Pacers have made it to the Eastern Conference Finals after eliminating the New York Knicks and their star player, Isaiah Hartenstein. The Pacers played their seventh game against the Knicks in New York and won with a score of 130-109, marking their presence in the championship series for the first time in a decade. They're now set to face the Celtics in game one in Boston on Wednesday.
The Knicks, depleted by injuries, allowed the Pacers to score a record-breaking 39 points in the first quarter. This performance was the highest for any team in a game seven of the playoffs since 1997. Things went from bad to worse as Jalen Brunson, who had scored 17 points previously, fractured his left hand in the fourth quarter and couldn't continue his excellent run of form.
It was evident that Hartenstein's lengthy season had taken its toll on his performance. After playing some incredible games, his final playoff outing fell utterly short. He was unable to score and even contributed to costly turnovers in the team. Despite Donte DiVincenzo's brilliant 39-point performance, it wasn't enough to secure the win.
Tyrese Haliburton stood out for the Pacers, netting 26 points. Coached by Rick Carlisle, the Pacers displayed their characteristic aggression, converting shots at a phenomenal rate of over 70% for most of the contest. This was later upped to a playoff-record 67.1% efficiency. The away win for Indiana represented the first victory for the team in the entire series against the Knicks, who had failed to achieve the necessary fourth win on Friday.
